Sports corruption is not a new phenomenon. But a fast-growing, globally accessible betting market married with a rapidly strengthening commercial sports industry have led to a substantial increase in criminal activity in recent years.
“Our means to safeguard sports integrity are evolving and bolstering, but so too are the those to which criminals are exploiting the sector. In this globalised, digital world, rules, legislation, and jurisdictions are losing power,” said Phil Suddick, Head of Sport at Clue.
