UK Educational Organisation

A UK educational organisation partnered with Clue to build a shared intelligence capability, growing from a small security deployment into an organisation-wide platform.

What began as a focused implementation for a small group of security users has since expanded across multiple functions, providing a foundation for collaboration, information sharing and continued growth.

Building the right foundations

The organisation wanted to make better use of intelligence already held across the business and create a richer understanding of organisational risk.

“We wanted to get more out of the intelligence we already held as a business. We have a varied range of intelligence income streams but knew we were not ‘making the most’ out of the intelligence […] We wanted to be able to bring this together to draw out valuable connections and paint a richer intelligence picture.”

To support this, Clue worked closely with stakeholders to understand existing processes and configure a platform aligned to the organisation’s requirements.

“Our Implementation Consultant visited our UK office and we spent the day mapping out the processes we wanted to put on Clue and workshopping the best way to do this – they were integral to suggesting the right registers for our suggested use cases.”

Implementation took just over 2.5 months, and included training, guidance and the migration of historic intelligence and incident records from multiple existing data sources. The organisation initially migrated approximately 1,500 historic records, with a further 20,000 entity records imported as additional use cases were onboarded.

Growing through adoption

The organisation deliberately started with a small group of users before expanding the platform more widely. As teams began to see value in the platform, adoption grew organically across the organisation.

“The word of Clue has spread and we have had more teams wanting to onboard processes and users.”

Today, more than 35 users across security, compliance, legal, operations and brand protection teams use Clue, with additional use cases continuing to be developed. Since implementation, the organisation has onboarded seven additional processes, with plans to introduce at least three more in the future.

Clue enhanced existing processes for certain teams; for others, it replaced manual approaches entirely.

A platform that evolves with the organisation

As new teams and requirements emerged, Clue continued to support the organisation with onboarding, data migration and workflow design.

“Clue has been very supportive in helping us work through further potential use cases and working with us to ensure we are optimising the platform with each new use case and team.”

The platform now receives intelligence from approximately 10 reporting channels, including whistleblower reporting forms, allegations, tip lines and other reporting mechanisms.

The organisation records around 1,000 information reports annually, with approximately 300 progressing to formal incident investigations. In addition, around 40 intelligence products are published each year to support decision-making across the business.

The organisation is now exploring AI-assisted capabilities, automation and API integrations to further enhance intelligence management and reduce administrative effort.

Key takeaway

What began as a focused implementation has become a growing organisation-wide capability, supporting a more mature and consistent approach to intelligence across multiple teams.

“Clue has been very supportive in helping us work through further potential use cases and working with us to ensure we are optimising the platform with each new use case and team. Beyond supporting investigations, Clue has helped us develop a more mature and consistent intelligence function across the organisation.”
