Mark brings three decades of software leadership experience as Clue continues its strong growth trajectory.
  • With more than 30 years’ experience scaling global software businesses, including roles at Oracle, Sage and Lifeworks, Mark Watson joins Clue as demand for intelligence and investigation capabilities continues to grow.

Clue Software, the enterprise intelligence and investigation platform, today announced the appointment of Mark Watson as Chief Operating Officer, reinforcing its leadership team as the company builds on sustained momentum, with ARR increasing at 45% CAGR over the past three years amid increasingly complex global security and geopolitical threats. 

Mark Watson brings more than 30 years’ experience driving growth across global software and SaaS businesses, with a strong track record of delivering commercial outcomes and strengthening go-to-market execution. He has scaled organisations through key inflection points, from early traction to international expansion, including roles during Oracle’s hypergrowth and Micromuse’s rapid rise to IPO.  

Across senior roles at Sage, Lifeworks and IriusRisk, he has improved revenue performance by refining GTM strategy, strengthening customer expansion and embedding operational discipline. In recent COO and CCO roles, he has focused on building repeatable growth engines for early- and mid-stage SaaS companies, aligning teams and accelerating sustainable revenue growth. 

As COO, Mark Watson will focus on strengthening Clue’s operating model, supporting cross-functional execution and enabling consistent delivery as the customer base grows.

Building on strong growth momentum

Mark Watson’s appointment follows a period of sustained growth for Clue, driven by rising demand for intelligence-led investigation capabilities. This momentum reflects strong customer adoption and net retention rates averaging 127%, underpinned by the introduction of AI via the platform, into the world of intelligence and investigations, where explainability, security, trust, guardrails and accuracy are of life and death importance. 

Organisations including the Home Office, Met Police, NHS Counter Fraud Authority, Oxfam, US Centre for Safe Sport and Tesco rely on Clue to identify and respond to high-consequence threats, deliver justice and demonstrate the impact of their investigations.

Strengthening executive leadership

Alongside Mark Watson’s appointment, Ian Blackhurst will move from Chief Sales Officer into a Strategic Advisor and Non-Executive Director role, continuing to support Clue’s growth and strategic direction. Guy Chiswick steps into the role of Chief Sales Officer, building on this foundation to drive the next stage of commercial growth. He brings more than 20 years’ experience leading revenue growth across technology and data-led businesses.
