Clued Up: Exploring Redaction in Clue with our user community

In our latest Clued Up community session, we brought customers together to explore one of the most vital (and often time-consuming) processes in intelligence and investigations: redaction.

This session focused on Clue’s internal redaction tools, designed to help users safeguard sensitive data without ever leaving the platform. Whether supporting compliance with data protection laws or preparing materials for disclosure, Clue’s redaction features make it easier to protect sensitive information – efficiently and securely.

We showcased two powerful tools: File Redaction, which allows users to redact documents and images directly within Clue, and GDPR Redaction, which helps teams identify and remove personally identifiable information (PII) across cases. These tools are purpose-built to reduce reliance on third-party apps, cut down on manual errors, and simplify collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

The discussion touched on real-world use cases – like HR investigations, legal disclosures, and freedom of information requests – and our customer story showing how the National Food Crime Unit achieved a 75% efficiency saving with Clue’s redaction functionality.
